If you're looking for a pub with character, this is the place. In fact, it's full of characters – both behind the bar and sitting at it!The atmosphere is always welcoming, and if live sport is your thing, you'll struggle to find a better venue. They show all the major events and will go out of their way to accommodate requests for niche sports or less fashionable teams, provided it's available on TV. It's refreshing to find somewhere that understands not everyone supports the usual suspects.The breakfasts are excellent value for money, with plenty of choice on the menu. Better still, the kitchen is happy to tweak things to suit your preferences rather than sticking rigidly to the menu.The quizzes, however, are the stuff of local legend. The host's pronunciation skills are somewhere between charming and chaotic – think Nelly Pledge levels of creative interpretation (if you know, you know). Half the fun is hearing the questions, and the answers regularly spark good-natured debates, laughs, and the occasional "that's definitely not right!" moment. Best of all, it's completely free to enter.Whether you're popping in for breakfast, catching the match, or testing your quiz knowledge, this pub offers great value, plenty of laughs, and a community feel that's becoming harder to find these days.
